When I go to browse tribes, I see a section called "featured tribes"
three tribes are featured. How can a tribe apply for being considered in this category?
what kind of characteristics does a tribe need to become featured?
what is the purpose of having this category?
Who selects which tribes will be featured?

Fri, June 6, 2008 - 11:21 PMNo idea.. but featured tribes also seem to be related to your location so they are local to you.. -

Re: featured tribes: how who why?
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 11:51 PMI had "http :// seattle. tribe. net" (spaces added) - tribe does that - mysteriously changes my locale - but it is still shown as "Melbourne" on my profile this time..
Now it is "http ://melbourne .tribe.net/tribes " and there are no featured tribes...
Tribe swaps my locations to things like "//washington.tribe" and "//newyork.tribe " occasionally .. no idea why - but the featured tribes seem to follow the location - but I have not watched this closely enough to confirm it beyond all doubt.. -

Re: featured tribes: how who why?
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 11:57 PMWell that explains how you noticed that the featured tribes are for one's own local. Weird how tribe jumps locations for some people. I have heard of this happening to others. I'm always in the same place. When I first joined tribe I was in the Los Angeles area, then I moved and switched to the SF Bay Area. There are many tribes here, so the featured tribes change around. I have wondered who decides which tribes should be listed there as there are hundreds in the SF Bay Area that could be chosen.
(And the Melbourne community better get with it and get on Tribe and start those tribes rolling in!) -

Re: featured tribes: how who why?
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 12:09 AMYeah.. there are some good Melbourne Tribes - but they don't seem to make the list for some reason...
My fav is this one methinks.. tribes.tribe.net/melbourne...nderground
And Tribe seems to love swapping my location Christine.. I am thinking it is 'cause they are trying to make me a Yank :) I feel privileged :)
