This has happened occasionally in the past also: it takes a long time to log in and then to load from tribe page to tribe page.I know it has nothing to do with my browsers--I use the latest Safari and Foxfire configurations--or my computer or ISP high speed broadband because all other sites load up lightning fast.

Can iMix scripts be embedded (functionally) on tribe profile &/or blog pages...

My first-ever iMix has been prepped for sharing with the LOST - ABC TV tribe but I am experiencing difficulty in figuring out how to embed the iMix script at my tribe profile so folks can just click on it and go directly to it. Is this possible, does anyone know?

If not possible on Tribe, then --as a work-around-- does anyone know of a tribe-accessible website elsewhere where I can get a page, embed the iMix script on it such that it is "live" and functional, then link _that_ "elsewhere" page in my tribe profile so the iMix is reachable via two clicks (first from my tribe profile to that page elsewhere, then a second click from the embedded iMix link to the iMix music playlist itself)?

Thanks for any techno-alms you can share for the technologically perplexed and depoverate.

BTW, here is the iMix playlist script I have been unsuccessfully attempting to embed and have function on tribe:

How do you send an email to all members of your tribe?

I've clicked around and can't figure out how to do that.
I dont want it to be something that they have to login to Tribe to see.
It should just go to their inbox.

Finding an Existing Tribe

I'm trying to find out if there is a tribe for Burning Man Performers, or performers in general. When you "Browse Tribes" and do a search, it takes you to a Google result with thousands of hits that include individual postings, not just a list of tribes. Is there a way to browse/view a list of tribes? Seems like Tribe should handle this in a different way - an internal search of the list of Tribes rather than a generic Google search.

How do I "subscribe" to forum posts?

Say I post a forum topic (like this) and want to be notified of replies. If I subscribe in an RSS reader, it looks like only the original topic - and not the replies - will show up. If I subscribe to an email digest sent daily, will it include the replies to the original topics or just the topics themselves?

On my homepage tribe has a menu indicating "your profile has had XX views" as of such date at such time. So I get told if people are looking at my profile.

Do I get to know who they are? Is any kind of list generated? Or is this just a one way mirror?

It doesn't matter who looks... I'm just curious.

This tribe communication (as the author admits) will not reach the people who need it! Why not consider emailing tribe members when something like this comes up or having a list where tribe members can opt in to get such a mailing?

P.S. Thanks for letting me know of the tribe bugs list where such suggestions would be more apropos. However, tribe should do more careful proofreading before sending messages out,

Slow log ins, occasional errors today (4 Dec 08)
One of the web servers has had some problems today which has resulted in slow logins or error messages. If you are having trouble logging in (in which case I realize you probably can't see this message), it has helped most users to restart their browsers. For some users (1 in 10 or so) a second restart might be necessary if the problems continue after the first restart.

We will have the problem resolved tonight.

I attempted to express my concerns to the tribe.net Company Blog but after trying to sign in I was told that that site is only for employees. So I sent my complaint directly to that site, but I don't think they received it. This is a concern that has bothered me here since I came on tribe.net five years ago. So here is their and my communication. Feel free to tell me what you think about this peculiar problem on this social networking site that I haven't encountered on others (Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, LinkedIn, etc.)

Deleting "Sent Tribe Invitations"

How is it possible for one to delete the old "Sent Tribe Invitations"? I would like to clean up some old stuff and would like to delete old "Sent Invitaions",, there doesn't seem to be a "delete" availability. Maybe the powers that be might consider this as a possibility!!

How can i reinstate invitations under welcome! on my home page?

After the most recent "unscheduled maintenance" I noticed two changes on my page: my main photo had reverted to one that i had last used months ago, and on my home page, under welcome! I no longer had the number of invitations listed any more. Now only the number of views I've had is listed there. How do I get the invitations thingie back? It was handy to click on to see which ones they were--and I always had one or most often more. It's bothersome to have to go elsewhere to find them.

I have the latest upgrades on both installed, and until a week or so ago, both browsers worked fine for tribe.net, although it became longer and longer until I could log in, especially on Safari, I tried all I knew--reloading, rebooting, etc.--and nothing helped that much.

WTF is happening??? THIS is the only site--out of dozens that I visit--that is having this problem. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE tribe because of its special features, but like so many other users recently, I'm dismayed (it that's not too mild a term) about how it's so dysfunctional now!

When I went back to see if there were more replies, the topic had disappeared. Since there was no offensive material in the post, I'm not sure why anyone would have removed it. My Tribes pages limit the information shown... help!

I am running the latest version of IE 7, and haven't seen any limitations until joining Tribes a few weeks ago. My page limits the amount of information shown on the page (i.e. only allows so many posts to be seen). I started a thread last week, and even though new replies are being posted, they do not show up at the bottom of my post. I have to go to the top and use the sort option to 'Show Newest Posts First' to see the most recent posts. That's when I noticed that any tribe I go to limits the amount of posts that are posted...

Any suggestions or changes I can make in my Tribes settings to make everything viewable?

"All Posts" vs. "Topics"

When you click the "All Posts" tab within a Tribe, what does that mean? It seems to be a much shorter list than "Topics" (but you'd think All Posts would mean everything ever, and therefore be the bigger list). Does All Posts mean just all recent postings? I checked the FAQ, but I don't see a definition of a Topic and a Post. If you're starting a new Topic (same as new "thread"?), that's a topic. When others contribute their thoughts, those are Posts, right?

deleting a tribe...?

How does one do this? I created a bunch of joke tribes many months ago that were designed as a response to a bunch of negative posts on the Burning Man tribe. These tribes were never meant to attract members and, for the most part, no one has ever joined and no one ever posts on them. I would like to delete them and clean up my tribes membership area but I can't find any option that would let me, as moderator, to do this. Is this an option or are these essentially dead tribes destined to wander the tribe universe forever, alone, forgotten, ignored and unloved by even me, the moderator?

Finding friends already registered on here via my email account

During the registration process for Tribe I was asked if I wanted to search through any of my email accounts for friends who are already registered on here. I said yes and the programme tried to search my email account but failed to do so. It informed me that either my username or password were incorrect; both were correct (and CAPS lock or Num lock were not on either) and so I decided that there was some glitch with the system and that I would run the search once registered (as per on Facebook)...

However, I have now discovered that it would appear to be the case that one cannot run such a search from within this site... Is this really the case? Or am I going to have to re-register on here to see which friends are already registered (if the email account search funtion runs this time...) and then I could just search for them via this username? Seems like a bit of a pain to have to follow this process...

Any thoughts?!?!

I'm sure someone asked this already (not that I can find that post), but why can't we edit tribe posts? They have that on just about every forum site but this one. Plus, we can edit just about anything else.

can't navigate this site

hi, i'm new. the 1st page that comes up when i log in is a page with 3 "modules" I just want to post and can't find a way to do it. the only way to find any tabs that will even allow me to post are in the...I don't know how I found them. one was in the newbie but that didn't work and the other one was this one. if i don't go into the help section...I don't find ANYway to post. I don't know how to do this and i'd would just quit if i hadn't already written that whole profile.

This allows me to save links in my tribe homepage and check em out latter

My friends are gone???

After Tribe came back online today after its downtime, my avatar says that I have zero friends.
And you know how you can see how you are connected to someone? When it shows my friends, instead of saying "you are connected to so and so" it says "no connection".

What did you do, Tribe?

Can you please fix it?

how to ignore crossposts?

sometimes a tribe says it has a few new posts and I go there and there are many new posts. Many of them are tangentially related so I assume the number of posts is actually the number of posts that are unique to that tribe can someone confirm this?

The next question is how to display only non-cross posts since I don't need to see the same post that appears in several of my tribes and the asterisk draws my eye to it whether it is spam crosspost or legitamite. Any thoughts on how to arrange this?

how to track my own posts and responses on tribe from my homepage

hey triberific web junkies!

I am really excited about the new layout and ability to design my own home page. BIG UPS!!!!!

Sooo...one thing that is missing for me is this: how can I track my posts I put out on other tribe groups and ***the responses*** that come back to my posts? Currently I have to remember which tribes I posted on and keep checking back on that tribe group to see who responded. What I'd like is to have a place on my homepage or inbox where all these responses come DIRECTLY back to ME without having to dig through the tribe group pages. What am I missing here?

1st module keeps moving! ack!

I've looked all over in the Tribe tribes and can't find anything about this problem. I haven't been on tribe for many many months and just went to update my profile.

The first module in the left column (side column under avatar) keeps shifting on my profile. (The large right column is fine.)
It'll look fine while I'm on my profile and using it, but when I leave and come back what used to be in the #2 spot has moved to the #1 spot. Sometimes what used to be in #3 spot is now #1. Sometimes #1, 2 and 3 just randomly change. Utterly maddening.

This has occurred with 2 different layout styles, with various kinds of modules (text, image). I've tried everything: editing the modules, deleting the original and replacing it with a new one, moving the module to the right column then back again, moving the surrounding modules back and forth, and every configuration of the move options possible.

I'm on a Mac, OS 10.3.9, using FireFox 2.0.0.3.

Any word on this?

Having Power problems

Time to be sustainable TRIBE.. maybe have a back up system or completely go solar and wind..Also have a back up data base server in another part of the world like Canada... Just in case big earth quake or natural disaster hits California.. and knocks the community off line... Tribe is a crucial network and I know if this is taken into thought and action Maybe your network will stay a float even via satellite. For cost I'm sure the Tribe community would come forth to participate in concerts and events to help raise the $$ for all this.. Think about this.

Mature tribe search?

I am a regular reader of the popular sex-column Savage Love. I was reading it this morning and I wondered if there was a "Savage Love" discussion tribe I could join. I did a search, and not seeing one, tried to create one, and...

Well, duh, of course there's already a Savage Love tribe, but it was made invisible during the December Debacle. So my question is, is there any way to distinguish between a)tribes that are private because the moderator wants to keep out the riffraff and b) tribes that are private (irrespective of the moderator's wishes) because they used to be Mature?

And how can I join the Savage Love tribe?

Using and shorting hyperlinks

changing time zones?

I noticed something interesting - whenever i post (comment to a friend, on a forum, etc.) it always shows my post date and time. The date is usually right but the time showing up seems to be for Pacific Standard instead of Eastern. how can i fix this? i have my profile pointed to NEW YORK so why would my posts reflect a different time zone?
